The Miss Samoa New Zealand Pageant is an annual event which has been held in Auckland for the past 10 years   It is a dynamic and explosive event dedicated to moulding our Pacific Island women to reach their full potential as future leaders and members of our communities   In the past we have have contestants from as far north as Whangarei and as deep south as Invercargill  The lead up to the event is a great opportunity for the young women to make new friends, boost their self confidence, and most importantly learn something new about the Samoan Culture

Our main aim is to promote our young Samoan Women and the goal is that everybody involved will have fun and hopefully get something positive out of the whole experience   All contestants are winners in the end as this is certainly not an easy challenge to take up

The winners of this event will go on to compete for the Miss Samoa Title held in Samoa in September, which will lead on to the Miss South Pacific Pageant   Our previous Miss Samoa New Zealand contestants have used their achievements at this event to broaden their career aspects, ranging from the Foreign Affairs industry to being successful lawyers

This years Miss Samoa Pageant will be held in Samoa on September 7th The Miss South Pacific Pageant will be hosted by the Cook Islands in Rarotonga later on in the year

Contestants will be judged on the following categories on the Pageant night :

A) Sarong

This category is a 1 piece Samoan style of beachwear  Contestants will create their own style using any type of colourful material   This can be wrapped or tied in their own unique way

B) Traditional Siva Samoa

The Traditional Siva Samoa will be performed the way that they know the Siva Samoa to be   Since everybody has their own unique Siva Samoa, contestants will not be judged on their performance   However, they will be judged on their costume for this category

At the same time, this is an opportunity for supporters to make donations that will go towards a charity organisation in Samoa i.e. Blind and Deaf foundations

We stress that contestants will not be judged by the amount of money raised during the Siva Samoa   The winner of the Miss Samoa NZ will present the donations to the chosen charity on her trip to Samoa during the Teuila Festival

C) Traditional Wear

The contestants will display their own creative traditional outfit which is made from any traditional material i.e. tapa, seashells, leaves, afa, Ietoga, lopa, or coconut shells

D) Interview

Conducted in English, the Interview will test your confidence and give you the opportunity to prove your public speaking skills

This occassion would not be possible without the support of all of our sponsors   We would specificaly like to give thanks to our major sponsors of the event -  Polynesian Airlines and ABC Motor Group LMVD     The contestants and committee would also like to acknowledge all of the contestants sponsors ( see contestant profiles)

It is not easy coordinating a huge event and we would like to thank all of our sponsors and everybody who has played a part in the success of the Pageant
